OUR LOCATION

Being only 15 km from Nainital and yet far away from the madness, Mountain Quail Lodge is located in the heart of The Naina Devi Himalayan Bird Conservation Reserve in the Kumaon Himalaya, Uttarakhand. One of the last few remaining continuous stretches of moist Oak and Rhododendron forests in the entire Himalayan belt, this area is extremely rich in biodiversity. It is home to over 350 species of Birds and Wildlife such as Leopards, Himalayan Black Bear, Ghural (Mountain Goat), Barking Deer, Sambhar and Pine Martins.

We have beautiful forest trails around our lodge where you can very easily head off on your own with nothing but your bird book and binoculars. We have a fresh spring water stream which is a few minutes walk from our property. It attracts most, if not all of these animals. You will find a number of satellite maps below that show you an overview of our area with the kind of terrain and wilderness that one should expect and perhaps look forward to, before visiting MQL!
