IN & AROUND US

Our Lodge is in close proximity to a number of beautiful destinations such as Corbett National Park, Sattal and Naukuchiatal. Day trips with a packed meal and guides (if need be) can be organized.

Corbett National Park

Named after renowned hunter and conservationist Jim Corbett, Corbett National Park is India’s first National Park established in 1936. It is one of the largest protected areas in our country spanning over 1320 sq km. Situated between the Himalayan foothills and the Shivalik range, Corbett comprises of various habitats from dense Sal forests to open grasslands. The river Ramganga runs through the park, giving life to numerous species of flora and fauna. Corbett National Park is home to an amazing variety of birds and mammals such as Asian elephants, Royal Bengal tiger, leopards, otters, deer, bears, gharial/Mugger crocodile, snakes and over 600 species of birds. It is one of the few national parks in the country that allow tourists to stay inside the park overnight – a fabulous experience where one is as close to the wilderness as can be!

Mountain Quail Lodge is a 2 hour drive from the nearest gate and we can organize day trips as well as overnight trips in the park with sufficient notice.

Sattal (Seven lakes)

As the name suggests, Sattal is an area of seven beautiful fresh water lakes. The lakes sit at an altitude of 1370 metres below lush orchards in the Mehragaon valley. Set in dense forests of oak and pine trees, Sattal is one of the few untouched and unpolluted freshwater ecosystems in India. Very popular with birders, Sattal is home to hundreds of species of birds such as the Long tailed Broad-bills, Red-billed Leothrix, Red-billed Blue Magpies, Scaly Thrush, Indian Paradise Fly catchers and many more.

We recommend trips to Garudtal – one of the most pristine fresh water lakes with minimal weeds and no habitation. Garudtal is ideal for picnics, birding, swimming and fishing and is a 1.5 hour drive from Mountain Quail Lodge.
